Simpson Grierson has a strong specialised tax and structured finance practice with extensive experience in areas, including:
- The New Zealand taxation implications of all types of general structuring and restructuring, including investments into and outside of New Zealand, diversification within New Zealand and offshore, mergers, joint ventures, amalgamations and acquisitions.
- Taxation and finance elements of national and cross border structured finance transactions and arrangements, infrastructure funding arrangements, property transactions and national and international trade.
- Advising on taxation disputes, including liaising with the Inland Revenue Department on behalf of clients, preparing requisite notices and objections, and litigating at all Court levels.
- Taxation treatment of debts and other financial arrangements and securities, trusts, insurance, superannuation schemes and other investment funds.
- Due diligence for capital raising and acquisitions.
Our tax group is active in delivering papers and presenting seminars on various topics related to New Zealand tax. We have also been involved in advising the New Zealand government in a number of areas, both at a policy and legislation preparation level.
