On 10 May 2007, Simpson Grierson co-hosted the inaugural New Zealand Hotel Industry Conference (NZHIC) at the Hyatt Regency Auckland. The conference was a huge success and brought together over 200 hotel industry experts, managers, owners, thought leaders and decision-makers (both from New Zealand and overseas) to discuss strategic issues facing the hotel industry in New Zealand.

The conference now provides locally what the New Zealand hotel industry has previously had to find offshore in Australia, Asia and the United States. The conference will be an annual event with various hotel chains and cities already vying to acts as hosts in 2008.
