Simpson Grierson has a long history of association with sports law and sports administration. Our Sports law specialists have the commercial as well as the legal expertise to advise clients on a wide range of issues relating to all areas of sport.

Simpson Grierson has had a long involvement with sports in New Zealand.  Some examples include:

Kevin Jaffe, Partner and Head of Commercial, and Rob Fisher, Partner and Chairman, worked closely with the Eden Park Trust Board throughout New Zealand's bid process for the 2011 Rugby World Cup. Simpson Grierson is now involved with significant development activity for the Eden Park Trust Board. Rob has been appointed Chair of the Eden Park Redevelopment Committee, which is tasked with preparing the park for the 2011 Rugby World Cup.  Rob is a former Chairman of both the Auckland Rugby Union and the New Zealand Rugby Union, and former Vice Chairman of the International Rugby Board and a Director of Rugby World Cup Limited.

Peter Stubbs, Partner, advises Yachting New Zealand and A1 Grand Prix.

Tracey Walker, Partner, is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Sports Law Association and a former board member of Auckland Tennis.

Jock Irvine, Consultant, is the former Chairman of Soccer New Zealand and was the Deputy Chairman of the Organising Committee for the FIFA Under 17 World Championship Soccer Tournament  in New Zealand in 1999. He is also a Founding Trustee of Sport Auckland.
