Richard has more than 20 years' experience in general civil litigation - since 1986 as a Partner in Simpson Grierson's Auckland office. He heads the firm's litigation department.

Richard acts on a wide range of commercial matters for many of the firm's major corporate and local authority clients. His experience includes banking, contract, insurance, professional liability, company and securities, insolvency, negligence and property disputes.  He regularly appears in Court as sole or lead counsel, as well as instructing solicitor and assisting counsel to a number of New Zealand's most prominent senior Queen's Counsel.

Richard is also experienced in arbitration and mediation. He is a member of LEADR and actively seeks cost-effective, practical and innovative strategies and solutions to dispute situations.
