Rob is Chairman of Simpson Grierson.  He is also a partner in the Auckland Local Government and Environmental work group, part of the Resources and Infrastructure Department.

Rob specialises in leading large resource management-oriented projects for a range of private and public sector developers including mining and quarrying industries, power projects, ports, landfills, sewage treatment works and roading projects.  Rob also has expertise in dealing with contaminated sites and due diligence exercises. Many of these projects have been high profile and, to an extent, controversial.  Many require leading teams of 15 or more consultants, and appearances before the Environment Court.

As a natural adjunct to these types of projects Rob and his team have developed an indepth understanding of climate change issues in an environment law context as well as the impact of New Zealand's proposed emissions trading scheme on different sectors.

Rob also has experience before the High Court dealing with appeals on matters of law.
