Samantha is regularly involved in a wide range of employment law matters. She assists clients with managing and resolving employment relationship problems, grievances, and disputes and reviews and drafts employment agreements, independent contractor agreements and other more general communications between employers and employees.
Samantha also advises on matters concerning human rights, privacy, health and safety, the Holidays Act and other relevant legislation and she provides strategic advice on restructurings and acquisitions. Samantha also regularly presents at seminars on a wide range of issues.
- Successfully represented Telecom in the Employment Court on the first case under the Employment Relations Act 2000 concerning exceptional circumstances for raising personal grievances outside of the 90-day period
- Has represented a number of key clients including Westpac, Telecom, Fletcher Steel, Porirua City Council, Land Transport New Zealand and the Ministry of Social Development
- Has been involved in resolving issues arising from large-scale restructurings in the telecommunications, banking and public sector
- Appears regularly in the Employment Relations Authority and the Employment Court, as well as regularly assisting clients at mediation and in negotiations. Samantha has also appeared in the District Court, the High Court and the Court of Appeal
- Has acted in an advisory role in relation to a number of legal and tactical issues surrounding the negotiation and drafting of collective agreements
- Member of the Wellington District Law Society Employment Law Committee
