Phillip is a Partner in Simpson Grierson's Resources and Infrastructure Department, which is comprised of the commercial property, construction, and local government and environment workgroups.  Phillip specialises in the areas of local government, property, infrastructure, forestry law and investment by overseas entities in New Zealand property.

Phillip advises public corporations, utility companies and investors on all aspects of property law, including commercial leases, acquisitions and disposals, land subdivision, infrastructure and development.  He also advises in relation to the Public Works Act, the Building Act, the Reserves Act, Overseas Investment Act and other related legislation.

Phillip's expertise in the forestry area includes advising on property ownership structures for forestry assets and due diligence investigations for large scale forestry acquisitions.  He has been involved in many of the large forestry acquisitions in New Zealand.

He has also handled due diligence investigations, negotiations and the documentation for significant property acquisitions such as the Tranz Rail and Port of Auckland's ferry takeover by Auckland Local Authorities and Toll's acquisition and disposal of the Crown's Rail Corridor.

Phillip has been extensively involved in the Auckland City Council's Britomart projects.  He negotiated and documented the Britomart rail tunnel and station acquisition, development and leasing and handled the sale of the above ground assets.
