Charlotte has specialised in construction law since 2004, initially with two leading construction law firms in the UK and since 2008 with Simpson Grierson.
Charlotte has extensive experience in major national and international construction arbitrations, negotiations and adjudications. She has experience in all stages of dispute resolution work and has also been involved in reviewing and advising on all stages of construction contracts.
Charlotte has acted for a wide range of clients including local authorities, international and domestic contractors and engineering companies. She has reviewed and advised on various forms of construction contracts including design and build contracts, standard forms of contract (NZS 3910 and 3915).
Charlotte has represented clients in arbitrations and adjudication proceedings in both New Zealand and the UK. She has also represented clients in the High Court and District Courts of New Zealand.
- Advising Enpure Limited, a leading UK company focusing on the development of new technology in the waste water treatment area in relation to a significant dispute arising from the provision of specialist ultrasonic sludge lysis technology.
- Reviewing contract documentation for numerous organisations including Kiwi Property Management Limited, Auckland City Council, Fletcher Construction and North Shore City Council.
- Advising on and appearing in relation to a Judicial Review application arising from an adjudicator's decision.
- Advising numerous local authorities, developers and contractors on the Construction Contracts Act 2002 and other recent legislation affecting the industry.
- Advising (while working the UK) Lindner Plc in relation to a dispute with Multiplex Limited arising from the Wembley National Stadium and assisting the resolution of the dispute at mediation.
