Diana is a Senior Associate in the Local Government and Environment Group of the Auckland office of Simpson Grierson. She specialises in the areas of Environment, Resource Management, Local Government and Administrative Law.
Diana acts for local authority and corporate clients. Her work involves litigation and dispute resolution in the environmental and resource management fields and advising clients on the scope of legislation such as the Resource Management Act 1991 and regulatory compliance issues. Diana returned to Simpson Grierson in 2005 after more than five years in the United Kingdom where she was employed as an environmental lawyer in a London City firm and worked in-house in a public law role.
Diana has appeared before the Environment Court and High Court on district plan and resource management appeals and in judicial review and declaration proceedings. She has also been involved in a number of cases in the English Court of Appeal.
She advises on environmental aspects of corporate and property transactions including in relation to environmental liabilities, due diligence and negotiating and drafting appropriate provisions for agreements. She has experience in relation to contaminated land liabilities, waste and hazardous substances law.
Diana also provides advice on local government and administrative law issues including in relation to local government and official information, bylaws, and the administrative law grounds on which the decisions of local authorities and public bodies may be subject to challenge.
