Jacki rejoined the firm's Auckland office in April 2008, after leaving the firm in 2000 to work in-house for Sun Microsystems in an Australasian then US / Global role. More recently Jacki was General Counsel and Company Secretary at A2 Corporation Ltd, an NZAX-listed entity with operations in Australia and the US. She has also provided services as a consultant advising on major IT and telecommunications transactions.
Her combination of in-house and law firm experience translates into first rate legal and commercial / business skills and a practical commercial solutions-based approach to legal advice and negotiations. Jacki is a senior commercial lawyer with a depth and breadth of experience advising corporates and government on a wide range of matters.
Jacki's experience covers:
- specialist strategic and commercial assistance in managing, leading, negotiating and documenting technology and telecommunications deals - including advice on strategy, contract/governance structures and key issues in the negotiation process, from RFP and selection through to closure
- negotiating and documenting a wide variety of supplier/procurement contracts and relationships
- corporate governance, NZX listing requirements and finance transactions
- compliance programmes and compliance issue management
- advising on marketing and trade practices issues and compliance requirements, including creating guidance policies for marketing claims compliance and privacy law
Jacki has considerable experience in RFI/RFP and procurement processes – both as part of the corporate team in the companies she has worked in, and as an external legal adviser. She is a highly capable negotiator able to add client value with everything from tender preparation through to negotiation with preferred supplier(s).
Jacki is particularly skilled at identifying clients' business needs and giving practical, strategic, and plain English advice that meets those needs.
On past projects Jacki has:
- devised unique solutions to key commercial issues (eg, competitive pricing) that were acceptable for both parties and proved to work well in practice
- advised on a governance structure for a project with multiple providers in connection with a bid to a major bank for whole of telecommunications service
- devised a unique contract structure to cover a multi-party/multi-jurisdiction engagement, and drove its negotiation to successful conclusion
- Admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales
