Commercial Litigation Intellectual Property Media and Broadcasting
Natasha is a Senior Associate in Simpson Grierson's Litigation Department.
She specialises in commercial and civil litigation and has acted in a wide variety of contentious commercial, intellectual property, real estate, and media matters. Her experience in commercial disputes includes, for example, advising on breach of contract claims, Fair Trading Act issues, negligence claims, real estate issues and debt recovery. She recently acted for plaintiffs in a leading real estate liability case in the Supreme Court. Natasha's intellectual property experience includes acting for multi-national companies on trademark enforcement and copyright proceedings. She also has experience in sports law, including successful representation of a national sporting body in a significant mediation.
Natasha appears before all levels of the New Zealand Courts, including the High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. She also represents clients in various alternative dispute resolution forums, such as mediations and arbitrations.
Natasha joined Simpson Grierson in 2006 after working in London for several years. Prior to that she practised in the Litigation Department of another major New Zealand law firm.
- Acting for plaintiffs in leading case on the application of the Fair Trading Act as it relates to real estate agents, and breaches of fiduciary duties in the real estate context: Stevens v Premium Real Estate (Supreme Court)
- Acted for Virgin Group in trade mark enforcement proceedings
- Acted in leading privacy cases in New Zealand: Andrews v TVNZ and Hosking v Runting
- Acted for Gullivers Travel Group Limited in a warranty claim for around $7 million arising out of the purchase of some New Zealand based travel companies from off shore vendors
