Patrick is a Senior Associate in Simpson Grierson's intellectual property practice group. Patrick has been practising in the area of intellectual property and commercial law since 2001.
Patrick specialises in advising on, drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial arrangements including licensing, franchising, distribution, agency, manufacturing, supply and services agreements for a range of clients including hotel, restaurant, consumer goods and pharmaceutical companies. He is also involved in all facets of commercial transfer and exploitation of intellectual property rights including as part of domestic and international acquisitions and disposals and joint venture arrangements.
Patrick also has experience in all aspects of trade marks, including re-branding, portfolio structuring and management, brand promotion, protection and enforcement.
- Advising Hilton International in respect of operational, procurement and sales issues in connection with its hotels
- Advising leading European generic pharmaceutical companies on international manufacturing, supply and clinical trial arrangements
- International franchise, licensing and management arrangements for various restaurant brands owned by Alan Yau, founder of the Wagamama restaurant chain
- DB Breweries' trade mark portfolio, brand strategy and "theme" bar licensing arrangements
- Protection, management and enforcement of the Virgin Group's trade mark portfolio and other intellectual property interests in New Zealand
