Employment Law
Carl works with a number of large organisations on a variety of strategic employment issues. His clients include Fletcher Steel, the Auckland City Council, DB Breweries and Telecom.
Carl provides strategic advice on all aspects of employment law, including:

- Personal grievances
- Sales and purchases of businesses
- Health and safety
- Collective bargaining
- Human rights and privacy
- Accident compensation
He regularly attends mediations on behalf of employers, and has been involved as lead counsel in a variety of litigation before the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court.
Having previously worked within the ACC and the Human Rights Commission, Carl has a great deal of expertise in ACC issues affecting employers, and compliance issues with legislation such as the Human Rights Act and the Privacy Act.
- Lead counsel for Fletcher Steel Limited in defending personal grievance proceedings involving stress, disadvantage and unjustified dismissal issues
- Lead counsel for North Shore City Council in defending proceedings involving aiding and abetting breaches of an employment agreement
- Lead counsel for CanTeen in successfully defending interim reinstatement proceedings
- Junior counsel for Colmar Brunton in successfully defending injunction proceedings in the Employment Court over restraint of trade, breach of contract/confidentiality and fidelity issues
- Junior counsel for the Auckland City Council in a major case before the full Court of the Employment Court on good faith/consultation issues under the Employment Relations Act
