Claire is a Senior Associate in Simpson Grierson's intellectual property practice group.  Claire has been practising in the area of intellectual property since 1999, primarily in relation to non-contentious commercial matters.

Claire has experience in advising on a wide range of intellectual property law issues including protection, transactional and dispute advice relating to trade marks, passing off, copyright, confidential information, trade secrets and patents.

Claire is particularly focused on providing practical and commercial advice in the area of exploitation of intellectual property rights, and has prepared, negotiated and advised on a broad range of intellectual property related contracts such as licences, assignments, confidentiality agreements and franchise agreements.

Claire also has experience in all aspects of trade marks, including re-branding, portfolio structuring and management, brand promotion, protection and enforcement.

• Advised Gullivers Travel Group on the acquisition of the travel businesses of Pacific International Holdings Limited
• Advised Methven in relation to its initial public offering and listing on the New Zealand Stock Exchange
• Advised MasterFoods in relation to a number of trade mark protection and enforcement issues
• Advised SJI Limited on commercialisation of its innovative additive releasing technology including preparing and negotiating its first licence
• Prepared and negotiated a broad range of intellectual property contracts including licences for Fletcher Building and Toll Holdings
• Advised Eden Park in relation to trade mark protection and enforcement issues, including a successful revocation action
• Managed trade mark portfolios for a number of clients, including the Radio Network of New Zealand and Arrows Grand Prix International
