Claire joined Simpson Grierson's intellectual property practice group in 2004 after several years in one of London's leading commercial IP practices.  Her broad base of experience spans all aspects of intellectual property law including non-contentious, contentious and transactional advice in relation to trade marks, passing off, copyright, confidential information, trade secrets and patents. 

With a strong interest in the food, wine and fashion industries, Claire works closely with her clients to understand the role intellectual property can play in their business, and to help them achieve their business objectives through providing practical and commercial advice.  She has particular expertise in branding and trade mark law. 

Claire's international and local clients include the food industry giant Mars, The Radio Network of New Zealand and RCM, owner of the high fashion WORKSHOP and HELEN CHERRY brands.

• Advises Mars in relation to protection, exploitation and enforcement of its brands
• Provides strategic advice to clients in the food and fashion industries for dealing with lookalike products and parallel imports
• Prepares and negotiates a broad range of intellectual property contracts including licences for BP, Fletcher Building and Toll Holdings
• Advised A2 Corporation in relation to commercialisation of its intellectual property via a joint venture with the Australian company So Natural Foods and licensing of its technology to entities in South Korea
• Provides intellectual property advice on corporate transactions including to BOC on its acquisition of the Shell LPG business, Old Fashioned Foods on its acquisition of the Hansells business and Methven in relation to its initial public offering and listing on the New Zealand Stock Exchange
• Manages trade mark portfolios for a number of clients including Mars, Eden Park Trust Board, The Radio Network of New Zealand and Wet & Forget
