Daniel has over 15 years experience in the area of property law having practiced in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

Daniel has extensive experience in all areas of commercial property including commercial leasing, acquisitions and disposals, urban redevelopment projects (including brown field developments) property aspects of corporate transactions (mainly mergers and acquisitions), finance transactions, due diligence investigations for a wide range of commercial property issues and has extensive experience in property issues for the energy and electricity sectors.

Daniel also has extensive experience in project work and large transactions requiring a commercially astute and strategic approach.  Daniel specialises in drafting complex provisions for both stand alone property documents and as part of larger commercial arrangements.

Daniel is a also regular presenter at conferences on property law and contract law.

  • Auckland City on the urban regeneration project at Wynyard Quarter
  • Christchurch City Council on the development agreement and lease for its new Civic offices
  • Tauranga City Council on the acquisition of Baypark Stadium
  • Swift Energy on the sale of its New Zealand Assets
  • Franklin District Council on its new Civic offices 
  • North Shore City on the PPP for a mixed use development including office/residential and public carparking elements 
  • Auckland City Council on a joint venture for a new public carpark in the Britomart Precinct
  • Auckland City on the purchase of ground lease interests in Wynyard Point for $41 million from Trans Tasman Properties 
  • Auckland City on the PPP for the re-development of the Britomart Precinct 
  • Toll NZ on a high value warehouse development for Fonterra 
  • Auckland City on the Britomart Transport Centre including arrangements with ARTNL and NZRC for the management of the public transport aspects of the transport centre including rail access agreements 
  • Auckland City on the sale of over 1600 residential properties to Housing New Zealand AUT in relation to its new design school 
  • Powergen plc on sale of Cottam Power Station for £400 million 
  • Telereal on the largest European property outsourcing transaction to date being a £2.4 billion outsourcing of British telecom's property portfolio comprising over 7,500 telephone exchanges and other commercial properties and its financing using securitisation, bank debt and equity 
  • Marconi plc on its disposal of its multi-jurisdictional medical imaging and whiteware businesses for £1.2 billion 
  • Purchase of various hydro-electric power schemes for a New Zealand listed utility company as well as the sale of its electricity lines business to UnitedNetworks
