Simpson Grierson was delighted to host the Hon Simon Power - Minister of Commerce, Minister of Justice, Minister Responsible for the Law Commission, Minister for State Owned Enterprises, and Associate Minister of Finance, at the firm's first Policymaker Series event for 2010, held in Wellington this morning.

The Minister addressed an engaged audience of business leaders who came to hear his views on financial sector reform. Mr Power spoke briefly about the new regime for financial advisors, before focusing the greater part of his discussion on securities legislation. He gave an update on the review of securities law and welcomed the input of experts in the room on the discussion document, which is open for public submissions until 20 August 2010.

The Minister also touched on the reforms taking place in justice, including the review of legal aid and the court system.
