City Rail Link

Simpson Grierson, working in partnership with leading Australian law firm Clayton Utz, has been appointed to advise Auckland Transport on the procurement for the City Rail Link (CRL) Main Works. This was one of the most sought after legal mandates of the year.

In addition, we also successfully tendered to advise on the acquisition of underground land for the CRL Project.

CRL is one of the most significant infrastructure projects ever undertaken in New Zealand, and a key part of the plan for Auckland's future. It involves building a tunnel for metro trains from the existing Britomart station up to Mt Eden station. New stations will be built on Albert St (Aotea) and Karangahape Rd. Early enabling works are already underway on CRL, with the project due to be completed in 2023/24. More information on the project is available on the Auckland Transport website.
