Edward Fear

Edward is a senior associate in our Auckland banking and finance group.

He predominantly advises clients on property finance transactions (both investment and development) in relation to a wide-range of property assets, including residential property, hotels, student accommodation and other commercial property. He has also advised on a number of corporate banking and leveraged and acquisition finance transactions.

Prior to joining Simpson Grierson, Edward was part of the real estate finance team of Hogan Lovells in London where he acted for various major European banks, funds, other financial institutions as well as sponsors on a range of bilateral and syndicated debt financings and re-financings, often with a cross-border element.

He has also undertaken a number of client secondments including (most recently) with Bank of New Zealand and, in 2016, with HSBC in London where Edward worked closely with the investment bank's Real Estate Finance team. Through this work he has gained valuable insights into the business needs of major banking clients providing him with a deep understanding of how he can continue to provide quality, thoughtful and pragmatic legal advice.
