Employment Senior Associate
We're looking for an employment lawyer to join our busy employment team in Wellington. The role involves a mix of litigation and transactional work and you can expect to act for clients in mediations, the Employment Relations Authority and the Employment Court regularly. Ideally, you'll have health and safety experience too. What we really want to see is someone who can hit the ground running, turn work around quickly and wants to deliver the best to the client every time. You'll be working with an amazing and fun team of lawyers and will be given the responsibility you need to take your skills to the next level.
Our Wellington litigation team is trying to pin down a solicitor with around 4 – 6 years' experience to come and join us. Two partners head up this fine team and are supported by an experienced wider team of litigation specialists. The team represents a lot of the firm's big corporate and public sector clients, including major energy companies and SOEs. If you're the person we're looking for, involvement in commercial property disputes, securities enforcement and insolvency matters, judicial review and other public law proceedings, and large-scale energy and resource litigation awaits.
You might be returning from your OE or looking to step up and acquire more file autonomy, courtroom experience and client contact in a new environment. You might have worked or be working in a large commercial law firm or a specialist litigation firm. Whichever way, if you think you fit the bill, you can be sure you'll be working for a firm that takes a modern and commercial approach to dispute resolution and has the ‘people power’ to deliver exceptional outcomes come court day.
How much do you know about tax? Enough to put your skills to good use in one of New Zealand's leading tax law teams? Our team is on the hunt for a tax solicitor with around 4 years' experience to join its team. You'll be working closely with two partners and two senior associates, researching and solving complex tax issues and advising clients on the conclusions that you've reached. As well as this, you will help out our transactional lawyers on the tax aspects of transactions they are handling and work with our litigation lawyers when a tax dispute arises.
All of these responsibilities means you have exposure to many different parts of the firm, meeting our brilliant people and learning from the best. You'll also be exposed to clients in a variety of sectors and areas, including financial institutions, local corporates and overseas investors and local and central government.
Mandarin speaking associate
Our corporate team is regularly working for significant Chinese clients investing in New Zealand so we are seeking a fluent Chinese language speaking corporate lawyer to join our team. In addition to operating as an intermediate corporate lawyer you will be called on to provide written and verbal interpretation for these clients in particular. Your language skills will need to include written and verbal Mandarin (Cantonese will be a bonus), ideally with sound business vocabulary.
