Solicitor - Commercial - Auckland

At Simpson Grierson, our commercial and corporate law teams focus on providing practical legal solutions to our clients' business needs. We see ourselves as an essential business partner for corporates undertaking complex transactions and running successful businesses.

We are looking for a solicitor to join one of our fast paced commercial teams. You will be involved in providing advice on a wide range of commercial matters and transactions for a broad client base. The team has a focus on information technology, telecommunications and infrastructure (particularly network utilities). Working with Michael Sage and Karen Ngan, our Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) team combines high levels of understanding and experience in the technology sector and infrastructure/utilities with legal skills in contract negotiation and stellar drafting, and commercialisation issues to help clients succeed.

Ideally, you will have at least 3 to 5 years post admission experience. Your background in commercial law (and ideally ICT experience) will set you up for success in this team. You will bring great work ethic, a readiness to develop professionally, attention to detail, strong problem solving skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills and an interest in ICT and/or infrastructure.

Support Opportunities

As a legal administrator you are part of a multi-skilled team. You are tasked with assisting the firm to meet its business goals by providing administrative support to our authors and partners. The 'hub' model enables you to work closely with the other legal administrators to provide support firm-wide and to each other. A hub is generally made up of three or four legal administrators providing support to a number of legal teams. While you will spend most of your time providing support to the legal teams within your hub's vicinity, it is expected that you will extend support to other hubs across all three offices if the need arises. Successful candidates will have 5-7 years legal secretarial or personal assistant in a legal or corporate role. Experience in diary management, filing, archiving, travel coordination, client management, opening and closing matters, and billing is desired. High standards and a proven track record of achieving excellence in all aspects of your work is a must.
