SchoolSafe, our easy-to-use online health and safety management platform, was developed specifically to assist schools in raising their health and safety compliance.

Launched in 2017, SchoolSafe supports principals and school boards in meeting their specific legal obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.

Terry Johnson, Simpson Grierson’s Health and Safety Advisory Services Director, says feedback from schools was that they were finding it hard keeping up with the requirements, let alone successfully managing their health and safety.

“That’s where SchoolSafe makes a real difference.  It gives principals and school boards the structure and tools they need to minimise their risk and ensure they are meeting their legal obligations,” he says.

“It also makes managing health and safety easier and more efficient. The platform is accessible from mobile devices and keeps all of your health and safety documents and activities in one secure place, available 24/7.”

Key features include:

  • A complete health and safety management system with procedures and checklists to help you achieve your health and safety objectives.
  • Best practice guides for understanding and minimising the most common health and safety risks for schools, with critical risk control plans to support their management (eg education outside of the classroom, drowning, abuse etc).
  • Checklists and monthly tasks that ensure necessary procedures are in place and key information is communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Three easy-to-use forms that help you keep a record of hazards, incidents, and action items.

SchoolSafe is currently used by six schools.
