Financial services regulation Consumer law

Our monthly Financial Services Regulation Update highlights the key developments affecting the financial services sector.

Three key areas we focus on this month are:

Financial advisers

The Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs has approved the Code of Professional Conduct for Financial Advice Services. The Code will come into effect when the new regime for financial advisers comes into force.

Managed funds

Regulations have been made to implement the Asia Region Funds Passport (ARFP) in New Zealand, to come into force in June 2019. The ARFP enables managed funds to be marketed across participating economies in the region.

Consumer protection

Submissions close this month on the Credit Contracts Legislation Amendment Bill, options to improve insurance contract law, and the regulation of banks’ and insurers’ conduct and culture to improve protections for consumers.
