Submissions on proposed changes to insurance contract law close on 28 June 2019. The changes focus on disclosure of information to insurers, unfair contract terms and making it easier to read and compare policies.  MBIE want to take a concluded position to Parliament in mid-2020.

The objectives for the review are:

  1. Ensuring participants in the market are well informed and able to transact with confidence
  2. Ensuring interactions in the insurance market are fair, efficient and transparent
  3. Minimising barriers to insurers participating in the market
  4. Recognising and protecting consumer interests

The options paper can be read here

Insurers are making submissions on proposed reform. It is important that others also make submissions. Insurance is a key feature of domestic and commercial life, and the options being considered are significant issues for insurers and insureds.

There are options to make a quick or comprehensive submission through MBIE’s online forms. If you need help in making submissions, please contact us.
