Pro bono: eliminating period inequity with The Period Place
December 11, 2020
Our pro bono practice recently started working with The Period Place, an awesome charity working towards making Aotearoa New Zealand the first country in the world to achieve period equity by 2030, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals from the UN.
The Period Place’s mission is to provide safe spaces for period conversations, get period education to those that need it, and ensure every menstruator in Aotearoa has the same access to period products.
They are an ideal pro bono partner to align with, given our practice’s focus on poverty and disadvantage in New Zealand. To date we’ve assisted The Period Place with branding trademarks and contracting agreements, as well as drafting and advising on their partnership agreement with The Warehouse Group to become The Period Place’s National Community Partner.
The Period Place team has been greatly appreciative - including publically shouting out our team (or as they put it – the “kick-ass wāhine lawyers in our corner) of Anastasiya Gutorova, Kate Tidbury, Holly McKinley, Kate Tennent and Shan Wilson.
