Simpson Grierson is one of New Zealand’s leading large law firms. We have an exciting and unique opportunity in our Auckland office for an experienced litigation support professional, keen to take on a new and varied role. 
  
We’re looking for a litigation support guru, natural project manager and team player, who’ll ensure our litigation teams are fully supported on project and document management, and are up-to-speed with the latest rules and court requirements. You’ll be motivated to leverage technology to its full capacity in order to provide the best possible legal services to our clients.

This role will provide support to our people across all national practice groups involved in disputes, and will include:  

  • Leading and managing required resources for various litigation processes, including e-Discovery, evidence management and hearing support, across all offices.
  • Maintaining and supporting best practices and tools for litigation teams to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Organising and managing initial disclosure and discovery, including creating and maintaining file inventories, processing documents for upload to our electronic discovery software platform, supporting the review teams and producing lists of documents under the High Court Rules.
  • Assisting lawyers with managing documents and facilitating efficient and effective document review techniques.
  • Preparing casebooks (both electronic and hardcopy), bundles of documents and other materials required for Court or arbitral hearings.
  • Hyperlinking briefs of evidence, affidavits, submissions for hearings and other documents.
  • Assisting with e-Court logistics and set-up where necessary.
  • Designing and delivering training to lawyers and relevant support staff on litigation software applications, technology issues relating to court proceedings and legal issues relating to privilege, discovery and Court procedure.
  • Identifying and driving innovation initiatives to further enhance Simpson Grierson’s litigation offering.
  
This role will suit a litigation support professional or lawyer, with experience in large-scale litigation and/or legal project management. You’ll have a sound working knowledge of e-Discovery systems and processes, including hands-on experience with review tools such as EDT, Relativity and/or others, plus a strong interest in innovation and developing technologies around legal project management. The ability to build effective relationships is vital in this role so you’ll be an excellent communicator who loves to work collaboratively and lead a team. You’ll have strong problem-solving skills, great judgment and a passion for learning. You will have a can-do attitude and will be happy to get stuck into whatever our litigation teams throw at you.
