We’re looking for an experienced employment lawyer (3+ years’ PQE) to join our highly regarded Wellington team, part of Simpson Grierson’s national market-leading Employment Law practice, reporting to Partner Bronwyn Heenan, and also working with our Auckland based partners and team. Our Partners are recognised experts in the field, heading a collaborative, high-performing team that of experts who work together across our three offices.

About the work

Our work offers an outstanding mix of litigation, advisory and corporate support – we advise many of the country’s most significant employers — from major corporates and government agencies to local authorities and tertiary institutions.

Our work is diverse, challenging, and rewarding. You’ll advise on a full spectrum of employment law matters, including:

  • Collective bargaining and union issues
  • Corporate restructures, acquisitions, and governance
  • Personal grievances and dispute resolution
  • Change management
  • Employment agreements, policies, and investigations
  • Health and safety, human rights and privacy
You’ll work closely with clients, contributing to strategic advice and representing them in mediation and before the Authority and Courts. The role offers the opportunity to shape client relationships, lead matters, and mentor junior team members.

About you

You’ll be an experienced employment lawyer who is proactive with great analytical, problem-solving and drafting skills, strong communication and interpersonal abilities ,, and a genuine interest in understanding your clients’ needs and employment law of course. You’ll enjoy collaborating with a smart, supportive national team, and contributing to the development of others while continuing to learn and grow yourself.
