We’re delighted to announce our new senior associates, Michelle Dunlop and Judith Cheyne!

It’s pleasing to welcome back two alumni who are both leaders in their respective fields. Michelle, a digital technology, privacy and data specialist rejoins our Auckland commercial group, and Judith, a local government expert, rejoins our Christchurch local government and environment group. 

Both bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience that add to the strength of our commercial and local government and environment groups.

Michelle Dunlop

Michelle has experience across a wide range of commercial matters, with a focus on working with clients in the development, deployment and implementation of technology solutions, including artificial intelligence and machine learning-based solutions.

Prior to rejoining Simpson Grierson, Michelle worked in-house for DeepMind, a leading AI technology company, where she advised on a variety of contracting arrangements, and regularly counselled on regulatory and compliance issues affecting emerging technologies.

Judith Cheyne

Judith advises on all areas of local government, including decision-making, consultation and conflict of interest matters, rating issues, development contributions, land transport/roads, Three Waters issues, and bylaws and policy development.

Prior to rejoining Simpson Grierson, Judith was part of the in-house legal team at Christchurch City Council for several years. She has significant experience with the Building Act and other local government regulatory issues, and also advises on statutory interpretation and liability issues.
