Simpson Grierson advises on strategic M&A transactions for The a2 Milk Company and Comvita

Simpson Grierson is pleased to have advised on significant corporate transactions for two of New Zealand's most recognised brands: The a2 Milk Company and Comvita. Both deals were announced this week, and both were led by Corporate Partner, Andrew Matthews.
The a2 Milk Company
We congratulate The a2 Milk Company on its strategic acquisition of Yashili New Zealand, a world-class fully integrated nutritional manufacturing facility in Pōkeno, while simultaneously divesting Mataura Valley Milk. These complementary transactions represent an important step in the company's supply chain transformation strategy.
The acquisition of the Pōkeno facility strengthens The a2 Milk Company's manufacturing capabilities and provides for further China-label registered production. The divestment of Mataura Valley Milk allows the company to improve efficiency across its manufacturing footprint in line with its core strategic priorities, while The a2 Milk Company remains a key customer of MVM.
It was a pleasure for our team to work alongside The a2 Milk Company, a long-standing client of Simpson Grierson's, on these strategic transactions.
The Simpson Grierson Corporate team involved in the deal includes: Partners Andrew Matthews and James Hawes, Senior Solicitors Dania Alsagoff and Thomas Rowland and Solicitor Rosie Dossor.
Comvita: Proposed Scheme of Arrangement
We’re also proud to support the Comvita Limited Board in the potential $56.4 million Scheme of Arrangement with Florenz, announced this week.
Comvita is an iconic New Zealand company and we look forward to working alongside them in the coming months as the deal concludes.
The Simpson Grierson Corporate team involved in the deal includes: Partner Andrew Matthews, Senior Associate Toby Holborow and Solicitor Caleb Antonio-Rooney.
