Three talented lawyers join Simpson Grierson partnership

Three of our exceptionally talented senior lawyers, Nicky Hall, Rachael Judge and Edward Norman, will be joining our partnership on 1 January 2024.

Nicky and Rachael are Auckland-based lawyers, specialising in Litigation and Employment Law respectively, while Edward is located in Wellington and works in our Corporate & Commercial team.

Board Chair, Phillipa Muir says: “Nicky, Rachael and Edward are highly talented lawyers who are making a real impact with our clients and our people through their continued mahi, and I’m absolutely thrilled to welcome them to the partnership.”

Nicky Hall, Litigation Partner

Nicky is a long-standing and highly regarded litigator who has shaped her practice around infrastructure, becoming one of the country’s leading experts in Public Works Act litigation. This is a growing practice area and one of increasing importance to Aotearoa given the scale of large infrastructure projects underway and in planning. Nicky also has significant experience in a wide range of commercial litigation.

Rachael Judge, Employment Law Partner

Rachael has long been regarded as a stand-out talent in Simpson Grierson’s employment team, most recently representing the University of Auckland in the high profile employment case involving Dr Siouxsie Wiles. Rachael’s promotion to partner will continue the growth of the firm’s market-leading employment practice, which works with many of the country’s leading private and public sector organisations.

Edward Norman, Commercial Partner

Edward joined the firm’s Wellington office in 2021 after returning from a London magic circle firm, and quickly impressed with the work he does on transactions in the infrastructure, transport and energy sectors. Edward has specialist expertise in the commercial, funding and financing elements of infrastructure projects, project finance and high-value contracting and procurement, which are growth areas for the firm.

Phillipa says: “I’m really looking forward to the valuable contribution that Nicky, Rachael and Edward will continue to make. They are outstanding practitioners admired by our clients, and they will help to grow our business and reputation.”
