India is highly qualified specialist employment lawyer.  She advises on all aspects of employment and health and safety legal issues.

India is experienced in both contentious and non-contentious employment law including employment investigations, restructures, senior employment arrangements, on sensitive or acrimonious disciplinary or grievance processes, negotiated exits, performance management, restraint of trade disputes, incentive schemes, Privacy Act issues and day-to-day advisory work. 

India regularly attends mediations on behalf of national and internationally based clients. She has experience in the New Zealand High Court, Employment Relations Authority, Employment Court and Human Rights Review Tribunal. She has also represented clients in the UK Employment Tribunal and Employment Appeal Tribunal and has extensive experience in international transactional and corporate M&A support.

India has recently returned after spending four years as a senior lawyer in Macfarlanes LLP’s highly ranked employment law practice where she was the key adviser and day-to-day contact to several global businesses. She also advised high calibre London-based employer clients on all types of contentious matters.

India is highly regarded by her clients for the level of service she provides the effort she puts into developing strong client relationships. Clients appreciate her proactive approach in keeping them informed and her efficiency in turning work around.  Clients have also commented on her pragmatic advice and assistance in resolving difficult workplace situations in a commercially sensitive way.

India is a committee member of the Auckland Women Lawyers Association, and the Auckland District Law Society (ADLS) Employment Law Committee.

Providing advice on employment law issues to clients in a range of sectors including health, banking and finance, private equity, technology and innovation and retail.

Advising a variety of employers in the private sector (including companies listed on the NZX and/or internationally headquartered) on employment arrangements (including incentives) and also negotiating confidential exits for senior employees.

Advising on restraints of trade and representing employers in relation to the enforcement of restraints of trade.

Conducting, and advising on, independent investigations relating to allegations of bullying and employee misconduct for a range of large employers.

Advised a major US listed client on all aspects of employment law, with a particular focus on their Covid-19 strategy, policies and practices throughout 2020 and 2021. More recently, India led a large trans-Tasman employment transfer project for this client.

Advised a global private equity firm on their day-to-day employment matters, and worked with the head office to input into global strategy.

Assisted a global company in the financial services sector in successfully defending a high-profile discrimination and whistleblowing case.

Advising a new joint venture in the innovation sector on all aspects of employment law and industrial relations.
