Simpson Grierson has advised Five V Capital, alongside Gilbert + Tobin, on the New Zealand aspects of the sale of Orikan to global private markets firm EQT Group.

Orikan is a leading provider of integrated parking, enforcement and compliance technology solutions, serving hundreds of government and private sector customers – including universities, airports, hospitals and stadiums – across Australia, New Zealand and North America.

Five V's Fund IV partnered with Orikan founder Declan Ryan in October 2022. Since then, Five V has worked closely with Orikan CEO Peter Neale and the broader management team to support Orikan's growth – including its cloud transformation, expansion into New Zealand and the United States, and investment in complementary mobility, compliance and enforcement capabilities.

Corporate Partner Michael Pollard, who led the Simpson Grierson team, said:

Orikan has built a leading, technology‑led platform in a sector where the demand for smarter, connected infrastructure is only growing. This transaction reflects the strength of the business Five V has helped to build, and the confidence international investors continue to have in high‑quality Australasian technology platforms with a New Zealand footprint.

It has been a privilege to work alongside Gilbert + Tobin in supporting Five V on another significant trans‑Tasman private capital transaction," says Michael.

The Simpson Grierson team was led by Partner Michael Pollard and included Special Counsel Joanna Lim, Senior Associate Louw Wessels, and Solicitor Charlotte Johnstone.
