Simpson Grierson advises Teneo on acquisition of PwC New Zealand's Business Restructuring Services unit

Simpson Grierson's Corporate team has advised Teneo on its acquisition of PwC New Zealand's Business Restructuring Services unit.
This strategic transaction marks an important milestone in Teneo's expansion across the Asia-Pacific region and reflects the strong offshore M&A activity identified in our Expanding Horizons 2025 M&A Report, which found nearly half of international investors are considering New Zealand acquisitions in the next 12 months.
Corporate Partner Anastasiya Gamble, who led the deal says: "New Zealand's reputation as a safe haven continues to attract global investment.
"This transaction is a strong example of the offshore investment appetite we're seeing in the market."
The acquisition follows Teneo's purchase of PwC Australia's Business Restructuring Services unit in mid-2025 and establishes the firm's presence in Aotearoa New Zealand with offices in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.
Through the transaction, 22 members of PwC New Zealand's Business Restructuring Services team will join Teneo, including partners John Fisk, Richard Nacey, Stephen White, and Executive Director Malcolm Hollis.
Our team involved in the deal included Partners Anastasiya Gamble and James Hawes, Senior Associate Dania Alsagoff, Senior Solicitor Evan Jones and Solicitors Oscar Crichton and Awanuiarangi Morris.
