Will Barnes

Will is a senior associate in the firm’s commercial property team.

Will advises commercial, local authority and government clients on property development, acquisitions and disposals, property finance, leasing and subdivision. His experience extends to large scale infrastructure and energy projects (including wind, solar, geothermal and hydro generation), strategic assets (Crown land, ports & airports) and central city commercial property development.

Will joined the firm in 2018 after spending over five years in the Melbourne and London offices of a large global law firm. Prior to that he worked in the Wellington office of a large New Zealand firm and a New Plymouth firm before that.

  • Brookfield Property Partners - development, pre-letting and funding of 100 Bishopsgate, London (a £1 billion, 37 storey, 93,000 square metre City of London office tower building)
  • Market Tech Plc - the £200 million Camden Lock urban renewal project in London
  • New South Wales Ports - the $AUD5.07 billion acquisition of Ports Botany and Kembla from the NSW Government
  • CIMB Trust Capital - the $AUD279 million acquisition of 3 Collins Square, Melbourne and the $AUD93 million acquisition of 50 Pitt Street, Sydney
  • Abacus and KKR - the joint $AUD120 million acquisition of a 70% interest in towers 2, 3 and 4 of the World Trade Centre in Melbourne
  • Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo and Credit Suisse - finance of  various acquisitions of real estate portfolios in central London
  • Contact Energy - acquisition of land rights for proposed Hauāuru mā raki and Waitahora wind farms
  • Infratil and Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation Fund - the $NZD700 million purchase of Shell Petroleum’s downstream New Zealand assets
