Bronwyn Heenan

Bronwyn is a special counsel in the firm’s employment law group in the Wellington office. She has significant experience in all aspects of employment law with particular expertise in disciplinary and termination matters (including conducting investigations), change management processes, mergers and acquisitions, and health and safety. Bronwyn is known for providing pragmatic and commercial advice to her clients across the public and private sectors as well as Local Government.

Bronwyn regularly attends mediations and represents clients in the Employment Relations Authority, the Employment Court and District Court.

  • Ministry of Education - bargaining issues, collective agreement interpretation, personal grievance claims, representation at mediation and in the Employment Relations Authority and Employment Court
  • Ministry of Education - issues arising out of its collective employment agreement negotiations with the Primary Teachers’ Union(NZEI) and the Secondary Teachers’ Union (PPTA) in 2018 and 2019
  • PGG Wrightson - strategic advice to both the Executive Leadership team as well as advisory services in relation to all aspects of employment law, including restructuring proposals, assistance with disciplinary processes, responding to personal grievances and attendances at mediation
  • Chorus New Zealand Limited - advice on disciplinary processes, personal grievance issues and representation at mediation
  • Solid Energy (NZ) - implementing business wide redundancy, advising on employment agreements and personal grievance claims and advising on the sale, wind up and closure of Solid Energy
  • Dong Won Fisheries Co - advice on multi-million dollar arrears of wages claim
  • Advising OMV on the employment aspects of its US$578 million acquisition of Shell’s upstream oil and gas business in New Zealand
  • Jardboranir HF - defence of a prosecution commenced by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment following a serious near miss incident
  • Advising Mowhawk Industries on its purchase of Godfrey Hurst
  • Ministry of Social Development - advice in relation to various disciplinary issues
  • Tait - advice in relation to restructuring matters and personal grievances
