Robert McLean

Robert is a senior partner in the firm's corporate and commercial group. He is a specialist in all aspects of corporate transactions, including financing, capital raising, public offerings, mergers, acquisitions, sales, reorganisations, and general contractual matters.

Robert advises on aviation, technology, and communications issues and has assisted with various venture capital initiatives.

  • Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group - acquisition of Westland Milk Co-operative Dairy Company Ltd ($570 million enterprise value) by scheme of arrangement, in respect of one of New Zealand’s oldest agricultural related co-operatives changing to Chinese ownership
  • Sale of cornerstone shareholding in IT business (data mining and analytics) with operations in New Zealand and Australia ($15+ million)
  • Acquisition by an overseas party of a major New Zealand storage business (consideration confidential - $60-$100 million)
  • Long-term water services outsourcing arrangement ($1 billion, over contract term)
  • Rinnai Group’s acquisition - a central heating business in New Zealand (consideration confidential – and the total consideration is yet to be finally determined)
  • Sale of medical business to private equity interests for $60-$70 million
  • Kirin Corporation - ASX takeover of brewer Lion Nathan for A$8.2 billion, acting alongside Blake Dawson (who dealt with Australian aspects)
